Emily Harvey works mainly with collagraph techniques. This incorporates a lot of different (and unexpected) materials, and encourages an inventive approach with plenty of improvisation. Prints are often developed into sculptural forms using plaster, paper and wood.
Many of her prints are created during artist residencies, she enjoys the challenge of creating new work inspired by a particular setting. Other prints arise from experiments with new materials, and reflections on the natural environment or ancient history.
For over 10 years Emily has taught short printmaking courses from her studio near York, and more recently has developed ‘The Curious Printmaker’ blog’, encouraging people to enjoy experimental printmaking.
