The mythological presence of moors and sea permeate Sandra Storey’s images which explore trace, imprint and ethereal quality of the North York Moors: it’s landscape, habitat and species.
Using natural objects found in remembered places Sandra creates printmaking plates and prints that are often developed further with additional media. Her recent focus has been on collagraphs but her work also includes monoprint, drypoint and aquatint.
Printmaking and mixed media are often combined in the same piece to produce single prints or very small editions.
Sandra left the Whitby area in the 1970s to study art and after graduating with a degree in Fine Art she trained as an Art Psychotherapist and was in clinical practice for 35 years. She went on to graduate with an M.A in Creative Practice in 2016.
