Sarah trained in graphic design at the University of Northumbria in the early 90’s and is now based in her rural studio in Ramsgill in the heart of Upper Nidderdale in the Yorkshire Dales.
All her work has a common route in development, collecting sketches plein air on long walks though the dales and north east coast. Her work is continuously changing and developing with ideas starting in numerous sketchbooks, an integral part pdf her professional practice with these ideas being expanded and developed back in the studio. At present she is particularly interested in working these captured moments into multiple plate prints using different techniques to creative a strong narrative.
Sarah works primarily in three areas of print. Silkscreen, Drypoint Etching and Solar Plates, sometimes linked together with elements of monoprint and collagraph. She uses solar plates to emboss and as intaglio plates. Her present work is based around the bay of Port Mulgrave working with images of fossils, rock layers, indentations and sand patterns.
